Data entry jobs - most common form of telecommuting?

Entering information into a computer system or spreadsheet is what data entry is all about. The main job responsibilities of a data entry operator is to key in lists of items, numbers, or other data into computers or fill in forms that appear on a computer screen. They may also be required to maintain the accuracy of the information already keyed into the system by manipulating existing data, revising current information and proofreading fresh entries. The role of a data entry operator is vital to the organization since it helps organizations keep up with the rapid changes in the workplace.

However, most organizations now, prefer to employ data entry telecommuters than data entry operators who work at the office. This can help both the employer and employee. From the point of view of the employer, data entry telecommuting reduces their overhead costs like a computer and office supplies. Companies even can reduce on other things such as employee insurance and tax contributions. From the point of view of the employee, data entry is a standard 40-hour week job. The problems with being a data entry operator is that you will be expected to be seated for long hours on end and may have to work in a noisy environment. Illnesses such as carpal tunnel syndrome and eyestrain are common for those in this job. Data entry telecommuting brings light in such situations since working at home is always more relaxing than working at an office. You also have the luxury of being able to take breaks when you feel tired and to work only when you feel like it. Since the job of a data enterer is already one that causes high stress, travelling to and from the work place is an addition to this stress. Data entry telecommuting also does not require any form of traveling between the household and the workplace.

It is easy to find jobs in the data entry telecommuting field. Although, you must know that, these positions are quickly filled since, there are a large number of people looking for data entry telecommuting positions. The criterion for entry into this job are important to know. Most companies require data entry telecommuters to do 10 key by touch on the keyboard with few to no errors. Other requirements to be met include computer familiarity, a working computer at home and an internet connection.
